WALKING THE LOVE WALK

Romans 12:17 "Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men".
There is an unwritten but widely understood code in human relations that says we should treat people the way they treat us. Jesus taught just the opposite [Luke 23:34], and Paul is reaffirming that same teaching. If we are to be Christ-like, then we cannot give people what they deserve.
Also, it is not enough to just be honest in the sight of God. This scripture commands us to have integrity in the sight of men. This corresponds to "abstaining from all appearance of evil" [1 Th. 5:22]. We need not only to be right, but we need to appear right as much as is possible.
Romans 12:18"If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men".
Walking the love walk involves practicing "longsuffering" or bearing the imperfections of others, and being at peace with them, even though they may not always be at peace toward you [Eph. 4:1-3].
Romans 12:19"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written. Vengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord".
Humanly speaking, our natural self does not like to yield right of way to the counsel of God's Word, especially when we're being mistreated. But walking the love walk is a choice of our will and not a feeling of our emotions and that is especially true when you've been slandered, or falsely accused in some way. But letting God defend us is a matter of our faith in God's Word. If there is no God who will bring men into account for their actions, then turning the other cheek would be the worst thing that we could do [Matt. 5:44]. But if there is a God who promised that vengeance is His, and He will repay, then taking matters into our own hands shows a lack of faith in God and His integrity.
Choose to put God and his Word first in your life and trust Him to bring you out on top. His way is the best way, and though you may suffer temporal discomfort, eventually God will bring his Word to pass in your life, and you'll be glad that you trusted Him, instead of taking matters into your own hands.

Five Truths To Help You Grow Up In Christ

Spiritual growth is a process in which you learn the truths of God's Word and then apply them in everyday Christian living. Hebrews 2:1 We ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at anytime we should let them slip.
1. First and foremost endeavor to develop God's love within you by choosing to look for the good in others, pray about what needs improvement and periodically remind yourself of what God has forgiven you of and then be as gentle with the faults of others as you are your own. Romans 13:10 Love works no ill to his neighbor.
2. When you hear teaching that is new, different, or perhaps even contrary to the way that you believe, don't go to the Word of God to prove the teaching wrong, but rather go to the scriptures to see if you are wrong, because you could be wrong in your interpretation of the subject and not know it. Read: Acts 17:10-11.
Sometimes people read the scriptures to re-enforce their current beliefs. Although they read their Bible, their minds only see certain truths. Instead of believing what they read, they merely read what they already believe. Rarely, do they ever see new truths in the Word of God. They then become more conformed to what they have already chosen to believe, rather than what the Scriptures actually teach. This results in spiritual stagnation and stunned spiritual growth.
3. Be willing to receive scriptural teaching from other Christians who may come from a different spiritual background than yours. Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens iron and so a man sharpens the countenance of a friend. Ephesians 5:21 Submit yourself one to another in the fear of the Lord.
Some Christians say they won’t read any other book than their Bible, or listen to any cassette teaching tape. They say, their teaching revolves around their Bible and the Holy Spirit "alone" who is their only Teacher. On the surface this may sound spiritual, but may in all reality indicate an un-teachable spirit and in essence is like trying to re-invent the wheel. After all, God has designed us to need one another for other things in life, and concerning our spiritual growth this is also true. God does communicate truth to us as we read and study the scriptures for ourselves, but God wont reveal all that we need to see and understand, just by our own individual study of the scriptures, because of our being prideful of our gained knowledge and to keep us from developing and independent spirit of self-reliance.
4. Keep in mind that in spite of troubles, trials and tests that are brought on by the enemy, God still has good things in store for your future! Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace to give you an expected end.
5. Put into practice what you are learning from God's Word, because "change isn’t change, until you change." The truth is we can talk about change, sing about change, and even preach about change and still not be changed, "stirred perhaps", but not changed. Change requires honesty with ourselves and a willingness to act on the new knowledge that we see and understand in the Word of God. God's provision of anointing for living right belongs to the "obedient" not just to the informed. And delayed obedience is still disobedience. Therefore, in order to grow up we must choose to be a doer of the Word and not just a hearer only. Read: James 1:22-25

Your Sufficiency

Who or What is the Source of Your Sufficiency?

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort. Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. ---2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Recently I had a conversation with a young man who had experienced many different misfortunes in his life and as I listened intently to the hurts of his heart I secretly was praying for God to give me understanding from Him, about how to minister to his needs and to be an encouragement unto Him.
As he was finishing his conversation to me, he said, he believed that all the problems in his life had come into his life for a good purpose. And I said, “What’s that?” And he said, "Well now that I have experienced all this hardship I will be able to minister unto others in the future who have had the same or a similar hardship as mine." I then said, “Well, that sounds good and right, but how about those people in the future who cross your pathway with problems that you've never experienced, how will you be able to effectively minister unto them if, in fact, you haven't had the same or a similar experience as theirs?” He said, “Well, I've really never thought about that and I must confess I don't honestly know.”
The first thing I did was explain to him that it was not his same or similar hardships that makes him an able bodied minister unto others. It’s just simply not true that you have to have the same or similar hardships to minister effectively unto others. If that were true, then if you were a woman who was attempting to minister to another woman who had been raped, you couldn't minister effectively unto them, unless you yourself had been raped. Rape would then be what makes you effective in ministering unto other women who had been raped and without you being raped yourself you could not be effective in ministry. And that's simply a lie. It’s true that you need to have an experimental knowledge of God's comfort, but it doesn't have to be in that same particular area or way.
In the above mentioned verses of scripture, the apostle Paul said that when we are comforted with the comfort that we receive from God we are able to comfort them which are "in any trouble” by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. Well if it’s only your same or similar hardships that make you an able bodied minister unto others, then when you come across someone with a different hardship you couldn't minister effectively unto them, because you haven't experienced what they've experienced. And if that's what you believe, then who or what is making you an able bodied minister? It’s not your dependence upon the Spirit of God or the Word of God. You've exchanged your dependency upon God, for "yourself" and your similar experience. Because God said when you flow in the comfort that HE GIVES you can minister to "anyone" in "any trouble". How and Why? It’s because you’re not just depending upon your similar hardship, but rather, your depending upon the Spirit of God and the Word of God.
2 Corinthians 3:5 says, "...we are not sufficient of ourselves to think anything of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God who has made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life."
The point is you don't have to have the same or a similar hardship experience as another person in order to minister effectively unto them, because its the principles of faith that are contained in the Word of God and your dependency upon the guidance of the Spirit of God that makes you sufficient in ministering unto others and not yourself or your similar hardship experiences.
Also, if you think its hardship that makes you an able bodied minister than you are unconsciously saying to the enemy, give me more problems so I can be more effective in ministering to people who have needs. Satan wants you to think that way because if problems or hardship will serve a good purpose in your life, then you should be open to them. But that's a lie of the enemy because God said in His Word---HE IS YOUR SUFFICIENCY! Not troubles, trials, and tests of the enemy!
Again, it’s you looking to God that makes you sufficient to minister unto others and not hardship itself, because if you haven't had that particular hardship you couldn't minister effectively unto them. But the point is you never have to feel inadequate in ministering unto others when you come across anyone who has experienced something that you haven't experienced, because your adequacy is not "yourself" but it’s God who is in you. He is your sufficiency! If you're just basing your ministry effectiveness upon your same or similar experiences, your ministry will be limited by your own wrong thinking. But when you quit just basing your ministry effectiveness upon your like experiences and trust God, then you tap into His all sufficiency and minister by the Spirit to "anyone" in "any trouble" because your sufficiency will then be God and not yourself or your similar experiences of those you are desiring to minister unto.
Please allow me to give you an example from my own life. For more than twenty five years I have looked to God and expected Him to make me sufficient in ministering to men who are locked up in the penitentiary. Yet, I have never been locked up for a crime. But according to some peoples theology I can't be effective in ministering to prisoners unless I've been a prisoner myself, or a former drug addict. But that's simply not true! It’s the Word and the Spirit of God that makes us effective in ministry unto others----not some former addiction or even some current hardship.

Stay Balanced

" A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight." ---Proverbs 11:1

I am well aware that this verse has reference to those who are dishonest in their business dealings unto others, especially with the buying and selling of goods. But it also reminds me that as Christians we can get out of balance in our walk with Christ. Not just because of deliberate sinning against God, but rather because we can become workaholics. Even Spiritual work-a-holics.
Some time ago, I read an article in a magazine about a man who had successfully served as pastor of a church for many, many years and he was being interviewed by a reporter about his long service unto people as a pastor and the reporter asked him, "What do you believe is the one primary reason why you have such long endurance in the ministry?" With a twinkle in his eye, he simply said, " I refuse to work myself to death and I make time ever week to rest and relax." Good medicine don't you think!?
How about you? Are you making time to just relax and rest?
It's been said that if you don't take time "apart", you'll just plain "come apart".
Life is sometimes busy and stressful. Yet if we desire to live a healthy life, we must "make time" for ourselves. Time to rest. Time to enjoy life. Time to laugh have some fun!
If I may offer a suggestion to you. Push yourself away from the work desk. Take the day off and enjoy doing something other than work.
"Make time" this week and every week to just rest, relax, and have some fun! It will refresh you and keep you balanced. You'll live longer and enjoy life much better!
